New York City Child Welfare Prevention Program

The New York City Child Welfare Prevention Program  is a partnership among the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and a network of community-based agencies dedicated to keeping families safely together and preventing child maltreatment. Through collaboration with ACS and three CHAMP Network prevention agencies—The Jewish Board, Forestdale, and SCO Family of Services—the CHAMP Network is working to strengthen trauma-informed care across the city’s child welfare prevention system. These agencies are developing as hubs for trauma-informed practice within their catchment areas, serving as centers of excellence for workforce training and peer learning. In partnership with CHAMP, these hubs are leading the integration of evidence-based interventions including Trauma Systems Therapy into preventive service delivery, while also training and mentoring other providers in their local communities. Through this effort, the CHAMP Network is building sustainable capacity for trauma-informed practice—ensuring that children and families across New York City receive care that is culturally responsive and grounded in evidence.
